TechMission Programs: Connecting Resources to Needs
In the past 10 years, we have placed over 500 full-time interns and 68,000+ volunteers in hundreds of Christian ministries. We recently chose to end our 9-year partnership with AmeriCorps (called TechMission Corps). We developed City Vision Internships based on the AmeriCorps model, but without AmeriCorps funds to increase our ability to innovate and expand to serve more organizations.
City Vision University is an accredited distance-learning school that provides 20 courses and three degree programs in urban ministry with over 150 student enrollments annually. City Vision University was established in 1998 (formerly owned by AGRM) to provide practical online education to those involved in urban ministry. The college is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission and is an affiliate member of the Association for Biblical Higher Education. Find more at: http://www.cityvision.edu.
TechMission Online is our consulting and incubation arm, which operates several programs that either help build capacity for those serving under-resourced communities or else address needs often faced in these communities. ChristianVolunteering.org is a website with the goal of increasing the number and quality of volunteers serving in Christian social services. We do this by providing online volunteer matching which makes it easier for them to find volunteer service opportunities (similar to how job sites like Monster.com help people find jobs). Launched in September 2006, ChristianVolunteering.org currently has more Christian volunteer postings than any other site with thousands of volunteer postings from thousands of organizations. Since its launch, the site has matched thousands of volunteers to volunteer opportunities. Among other programs, we also offer UrbanMinistry.org that provides over 150,000 sermons and other resources for Christians serving the poor and the ILS Nova Online GED and Adult Education System.
